Keep the right door within reach

Take the question to the right place.

Use the health professional's role to choose a licensing board. Use the pharmacy's name for a pharmacy check. When the concern is about a medicine, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) tools answer a different set of questions.

As of September 2026.

Get clear

Doctor or physician assistant

Physician assistants are health professionals who treat patients with supervision from a doctor.

The Texas Medical Board has a licence search and a complaint route for doctors and physician assistants.

You must give your name when making a complaint. The board keeps your identity private. The exception is for complaints filed by insurance companies or medicine companies, rather than by a patient.

Read the board's complaint terms before submitting personal information.

Look closer

Nurse or nurse practitioner

A nurse practitioner has extra training as a nurse to assess patients and plan their treatment.

Nursing licence checks and complaints go to the Texas Board of Nursing.

The nursing board keeps the name of the person complaining private, even if the nurse is later disciplined publicly.

Keep asking

Pharmacy or pharmacist

The Texas State Board of Pharmacy has licence records and a written complaint route for its licence holders.

A complaint must include your name. The pharmacy board does not handle disputes over prices or bills.

Carry it forward

A misleading advert or billing dispute

As of September 2026.

The Texas Attorney General's consumer complaint route covers deceptive ads, billing or refund issues and scams.

Those complaints are public under Texas law, and the office does not provide personal legal advice.

The office advises leaving sensitive details such as financial account numbers out of the complaint.

One more question

A medicine question or problem

FDA explains compounded medicines, meaning ones made or mixed to order. It also offers MedWatch, a service where patients can report medicine problems.

A report by itself is no proof that a product was responsible for the problem.

Use the medicine information when preparing a question for the clinician. Use the reporting information to understand the report process.
